Well-known woodturning demonstrator Jimmy Clewes has released his third set of DVDs at this year's Harrogate Woodworking Show in November. Following from the international success of the Turnaround DVD and the critically-acclaimed Turn it On DVD box set, Jimmy has once again teamed up with television production company Avanticom to produce a set of three brand new DVDs called Turn it Up, each just over two hours long.

The first DVD sees Jimmy turn and colour a form using quilted Maple and white gold, a very thin cowboy hat from a big lump of Cherry, and as extra features Jimmy discusses different methods of mixing and using colours, followed by a fascinating visit to a production turning factory mass-producing a range of turnings.

DVD 2 begins with a lovely natural edge bowl from Acacia, and then a special lidded box from Box Elder with a chattered Ebony insert. Jimmy then takes us all the way to Germany to visit Nagel, one of the world's largest suppliers of exotic timbers - a real treat.

The final DVD in the series has a double natural edge piece made from Australian Mallee with a spun silver inset, and then Jimmy experiments with some unique multi-offcentre sculpture work. Finally, as a bonus feature he makes a neat little golf tee from pink Ivory before testing it out on the 18th at Slaley Hall, and there is a very funny special treat for those who watch to the end of this DVD!

Once again Jimmy entertains with his unique style of relaxed presenting combined with very in-depth explanation of tooling techniques - he explains everything he does and the camera work captures every detail in stunning close-ups and crane shots from Jimmy's point of view.
